The Petroleum Institute Student Chapter successfully organised a presentation competition which spanned across all departments in the University. Distinguishable faculty turned up for the event as well as the ever ready believing students. We appreciate all the efforts from all the Judges, contestants and the audience to make this a successful event. The winner turned out to be Mr. Deviprakash Jyothishmathi, a graduate student of the Mechanical Engineering Department who gave a presentation on "Ultra Pure Petroleum using Nano cantilever".
The First Ever Petroleum Institute SPE Student Chapter Debate on the topic "Will The Oil Price ever Reach $150/bbl" was held at the Petroleum Institute on the 31st of January 2016. Issues surrounding the recent steepingly decrease in the oil price was ironed out. The YES team supporting the notion turned out victorious against NO team. Kudos to the all participating arms of the debate. The SPE Student Chapter appreciates gratefully the students who out of their spare time attended the event. We promise to always surpass your expectation and enrich you with life changing events. The Middle East Regional Qualifier for Petrobowl was held at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers on 28th of January 2016. The Petroleum Institute Student Chapter competed massively, aimed for the gold and strive hard to participate at the ATCE, Dubai. The 5-man team, comprising of full-time and part-time graduate students from the department exceeded expectations by breaking in to the semis of the competition for the first-ever time. Now, we await the final list of the participants where we hopefully become the third at the qualifier. This is scheduled to be published in June. More power to the elbow of the representatives of the Chapter.

Here are pictures from the event The PetroBowl℠ Competition matches SPE student chapter teams against one another in a fast-paced quiz competition covering technical and non-technical aspects of the oil and gas industry. It is held every year in a different country and is considered a major international SPE competition.
The PI SPE Student Chapter organized its first quiz competition in which 18 students participated. The event was quit successful thanks to all participants and organizers. March 9, 2015: pi students participate in spe's petrobowl middle east regional qualifier in bahrain10/3/2015 Four PI Students (Mohammed Hossni, Yaman, Martin Fernandes and Ahmed Adnan) participate in the SPE Petrobowl Middle East Regional Qualifier 2015 that was held at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel in Manama, Bahrain. This year's event was held in conjuction with the 19th Middle East Oil and Gas Show and Conference. Mr. Jorge Costa Gomes represented the Middle East and North Africa region at the Global SPE student paper contest and won the second place position in the graduate division. This was at the Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This competitive academic contest usually involves over 150 petroleum engineering schools world-wide with over 150 petroleum engineering schools worldwide with over 3,000 graduate students competing. |
